The misadventures of Flapjack and Captain K’nuckles :

At a wedding I did recently I was given two fish, one black and one bright pink. As soon as they got home the first thing we did was name them Captain K’nuckles and Flapjack.
Wanting to make sure they had the best tank in town we set them up with a beautiful new tank complete with colorful rocks and caves.
One morning as I got up to feed our two fishy friends I noticed that Flapjack was MIA….how did I loose a fish?
We suspected right away that KeKe was to blame we looked all over, not a splash of water around, we didn’t hear any commotion but Keke is a very skilled hunter so we did the best we could to protect K’nuckles from the danger that lurked near by.
As I got up this morning to check on the ol’ captain to my horror he was missing, I casualty of Keke! My hubby and I went on thinking we could have done more but it was to late now….when all of the sudden we hear from the bathroom
"mom, dad come quick the fish is in the toilet!"
WHAT!!!
We looked at each other with disbelief. Sure enough the captain was in the bowl but no longer with us. With quick thinking as not to upset me five year old I said “he’s like Nemo trying to get back to the sea” and we helped him along…poor thing.

We have always known Keke was smart but to conspire with the fish to set them free was another thing.
Well I guess it was an adventure!

Matthew Robert:

All my friend Jen wanted for her shower gift were images of her fourth child Mathew so as soon as I got the word I rushed to the hospital to document the first hours of this little cutie.
All he wanted was to be wrapped up like a little baby burrito so all you could see was his beautiful little head poking out of the pink and blue striped blanket.

I can’t wait to do more photos of this little cutie!!

holding your breath:

Sometimes as a photographer you have to hold your breath and I do mean literally!
When I have the perfect shot I sometimes take in a slow deep breath and hold it until I hear the shutter of my camera click close.
When I was emailed by Weddings Unveiled to submit a few kissy images, I held my breath! Today I got the news that I not only got one photo but two in
"the can’t live without them favorites" sweet!!!
I am right along side some of my favorite photographers, what an honor!

Thank you Weddings Unveiled….so everybody go check out

cards and flowers and candy oh my:

So tonight the hubby and I are opting for a night in with out the rug rat…oh so quite!!
We had made a pact not to do anything for Valentines day because we both have birthdays in February. We thought we would jut do something big for our B-day's instead. Like maybe a little trip but more about that later.
So needless to say I was ok with out wakening up to a huge stuffed animal holding a even bigger box of chocolates. I didn’t even think anything until I walked into the kitchen to find a huge bouquet of flowers and a card waiting for me.
Wow what a sweetie…and he got a card and candy for little squirt too.
He is the best guy ever!

Wishing You All A Very Happy Valentine Day!

competition and creative aren’t compatible:

Why do I say this well photographers by nature are competitive…lets just face it they
are, it’s the nature of the beast. The last thing I want is to fight with anyone for a shot, in the past I have sometimes had people working with me who felt compelled to
“get the shot”.
This is one of the main reasons I love Jodie (my second shooter) she gets that there is no I in team and any glory for Peachtree Photography is glory for her as well; because being published even as a second shooter is still being published and does nothing but look great in your portfolio!!
Anyway I digress...

At events people are pumped to “get the shot” and to be honest I love it!! What, I know I just said I didn’t but I do, I love seeing others capture important memories and you get some funny ones too…

paying my dues:

As with anything that your passionate about you have to work hard, do things you don’t like, put lots of time and effort in to it and learn in the process. In my fifteen years as a photographer I have worked hard, long hours sometimes seeing the perfect image in my lens only to have the moment fade in an instant.

My years as a professional fine artist gained me much in the way of learning to deal with showings, galleries, and buyers but it’s my year in the trenches of portrait and wedding photography that have gained me the most insight and technical experience.
You know most of what I learned, I learned in the trenches; there’s something to be said about jumping in headfirst.
Looking back I don’t think I would have done it any other way. The Lord leads you in a direction and no matter how much you dislike it or second-guess, you just have to pay your dues.

Thank you to all my clients who trust me and my vision…I know it’s hard to understand what an artiest sees so thank you, I have gained so much and been so blessed to have all of you in my life. So why am I writing this? Well it’s because of the amazing emails that I’ve been getting from all of my wonderful clients and here is one I would like to share.

Ashley + Chris

This Saturday was like a family reunion, I have captured images for Jessica, Jennifer and now a year later their cousin Ashley.

It was amazing seeing old faces and meeting new ones as well. Ashley and Chris are such a fun couple and I heard more I love yous that day than I have in a long time.
They had the cutest grooms cake with little Twinkie bride and groom on top as well as an artist drawing characters of all the guests…so cute!

In all it was great to spend the day with such great people and their amazing family members, I hope you are enjoying that honeymoon!
